About The Position

Responsible for assisting the radiologist to streamline workflow processes. This position coordinates and manages exams once they reach Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS), ensuring timely reading and report delivery to ordering and referring physicians. Additionally, this role evaluates studies, recognizes discrepancies, and resolves issues or brings them to the attention of the radiologist. In addition, this position participates in various technical and administrative processes to deliver quality care to physicians, ancillary staff, and patients. Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting bodies.

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent
  • Current valid State of Florida license as a General Radiographer, Sonographer, or Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technology (CNMT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiological Sciences or Healthcare related field of study
  • One or more years working as a registered imaging technologist (any modality)
  • Advanced modality certification (CT, MRI, NM, MG)

Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Contributes toward process improvement by submitting ideas at staff meetings and directly to management.
  • Monitors and prioritizes PACS worklists for critical exams, STAT exams, and established turn-around times. Identifies and corrects incomplete or broken studies and hanging protocols.
  • Follows up with technologists or department managers to promptly fix incomplete or incorrect exams for dictation.
  • Provides timely results to ancillary departments and physician offices.
  • Connects physician-to-physician phone calls and minimizes phone calls into the read rooms.
  • Communicates clinical information and observations to radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  • Provides warm phone transfers to radiologists and other departments.
  • Adheres to scheduled shifts and provides proper advanced notification of tardiness, absences, and vacation requests.
  • Maintains awareness of radiologists' and residents' schedules, worklist rotations, and meetings.
  • Coordinates on call technologists and radiology nurses for IR procedures when requested by the radiologist.
  • Assists with data collection for process improvement initiatives while understanding department performance trends and established standards.
