About the position

Select Specialty Hospital is located in downtown San Diego on Washington Street. As a 110-bed free-standing Critical Illness Recovery Hospital, we treat medically complex patients who need more support before starting their road to recovery. Our team is dedicated to creating a safe and collaborative environment. We provide a comprehensive training program preparing clinical team members to treat and care for a wide variety of diagnoses and high acuity patients. Typically patients stay with us for 25-30 days, allowing our team to build rapport with patients and their families. Responsibilities

  • Organizes, develops, directs, and supervises all aspects of the Medical Imaging department.
  • Prepares the patient for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process of the scans and properly positioning the patient.
  • Operates equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patient's bones, organs, and tissue.
  • Acts as the RSO/IRRP for the facility.
  • Shows effective leadership and supervisory skills along with good communication skills for interdepartmental relationships.
  • Staffs and schedules appropriate amount of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Develops positive relationships with physicians and other referral sources.
  • Maintains open and ongoing communications with the Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Completes necessary requisitions for ordered exams in a timely manner.
  • Schedules all exams accurately and in an organized manner.
  • Performs diagnostic Radiographic/Fluoroscopic/CT exams on patients.
  • Demonstrates the ability to inject IV contrast media as needed.
  • Performs a variety of examinations, reconstructions, and various printing protocols as directed by the Radiologist.
  • Identifies various types of mechanical and electronic equipment failures.
  • Explains the procedure to the patient and answers any questions related to the equipment or the procedure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist.
  • Current state license.
  • ARRT or CMRT certification.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Current with Continuing Education in all fields of licensure.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1 year experience as a CT Technologist.
  • Experience with Phillips Ingenuity CT scanner.
