Candidates will work under the direct supervision of a licensed radiologic technologist and assist with: Position Duration: This role is limited to second-year radiography students only. Candidates may remain in the extern position for up to three months following graduation, after which they must transition out of the extern role. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Currently enrolled in a nationally Accredited Educational Program in Radiology required (I.E. JCERT) AND
  • Have successfully completed (1) one semester in a nationally Accredited Educational Program in Radiology required (I.E. JCERT)
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care
  • Transporting patients pre- and post-exam
  • Room setup and turnover, including cleaning tables and equipment
  • Providing pre- and post-exam education to patients and family members
  • Collaborating with radiology staff, nursing, respiratory therapy, and other interdisciplinary teams
  • Scanning documents into Synapse
  • Initiating exams in Epic and ensuring required exam and safety checklists are completed
  • Assisting with basic troubleshooting and escalation when equipment or workflows are not functioning as expected
