About The Position

The Computed Tomography Technologist is involved in hands-on patient care. The Computed Tomography Technologist manages room workflow and facilitates care of patients in conjunction with the Computed Tomography Supervisor. Under general supervision and following established procedures and protocols, the technologist facilitates Computed Tomography examinations for all patients. They check for contrast allergies and contraindications for all patients, verify accuracy of protocols prior to exams, and adhere to policies and procedures for daily operations. The technologist works with the Computed Tomography Supervisor to ensure that the imaging standards are maintained and participates in the research and development of new exams and protocols. They enter the appropriate charges in EMR accurately for all exams and ensure that all exams are of high quality and available for interpretation in a timely fashion. The technologist follows the workflow plan developed by the supervisor and alerts the supervisor to problems as necessary to a changing environment. They recommend changes to the protocol that would improve the overall quality and care for the patient and participate in the quality assurance plan for the Computed Tomography program. The technologist actively participates in the plan of action in accordance with workflow needs, monitors the equipment performance, and takes the appropriate measures to have problems resolved. They perform equipment QC on scanners, temperature checks on contrast warmer and refrigerator, and maintain competency on injectors and POCT devices. Consistently demonstrating effective communication, both written and verbal, with all departmental, hospital staff, and vendors is essential. The technologist performs all other duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an approved program in Radiologic Sciences.
  • Massachusetts Department of Public Health licensure for Radiologic Technologist and CT required.
  • ARRT registry in Radiologic Sciences required.
  • ARRT registry in Computed Tomography required.
  • BCLS certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a licensed technologist preferred.
