About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: To oversee and coordinate the daily operations of staff in Diagnostic Radiology. Reporting to and functioning under general supervision of the Supervisor, the Imaging Technologist/Radiology Coordinator prepares for a variety of radiologic procedures to produce images of the body for the diagnosis of pathological conditions and traumatic disorders. Operates radiation producing equipment following specific physician orders. Produces detailed images of patients for diagnostic information. Verifies patient identification process prior to imaging, selects patient from worklist, ensures exam is archived on the PACS and completed properly in the RIS. Maintains facilities are in proper order. Must keep abreast of all imaging protocols and new imaging equipment.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Completion from an accredited Radiology Technology program and registered by the ARRT.
  • EXPERIENCE: Three to five years' experience as a staff imaging technologist and proficient in performing all procedures pertinent to area of responsibility.
  • SPECIAL SKILLS: Registered in Radiologic Technology by the ARRT and a current and valid license from the State of NJ DEP. Current CPR certification thru the American Heart Association. Physical dexterity to operate a variety of complex stationary and mobile radiation producing equipment and mechanical accessories. Ability to work in sensitive areas including the OR and critical care units. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular systems. Excellent interpersonal communication (oral, written, presentation) skills. Ability to perform tasks accurately with attention to details, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function independently and competently in stressful situations and changing work environment related to changing patient needs. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e. , physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations.
