About The Position

The Supplemental Radiology Coder will fill in for vacation and sick calls. This is a remote position working Monday-Friday day shift. This position is eligible for a 12% supplemental differential. Summary: The Radiology Coder I is responsible for the timely completion of coding and charge entry as assigned. This is an entry level role suitable for coders new to radiology or transitioning into a specialty. General Description: Organizational, communication (written, verbal and personal), problem solving, prioritizing and decision-making skills are routinely used in everyday activities. There is minimum supervision and appropriate initiative must be taken to complete projects by the deadlines given. Completes on-site routine and complex encounter form coding for ambulatory professional services; acts as an expert on third party billing, cash management, referral, and coding processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Zero to two years of medical billing/radiology coding experience is preferred but not required.
  • One year experience in patient health care accounts
  • Working knowledge of patient accounting systems
  • ICD-10/CPT Coding
  • Anatomy and medical terminology
  • Willingness to grow into broader modalities with ongoing support.
  • Required (CPC or CCS certifications).
  • Proof of maintaining certification is required.
  • Must meet yearly CEU requirements.
  • Copy of renewal of the certification is required and will be filed in the employee records.
  • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
  • In order to comply with provisions, set forth in Sections 1128 and 1156 of the Social Security Act, all new employees of Inland Imaging Business Associates will be checked against the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG). Employees must not be included on this list.
  • Eligible employees must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), Workday, Internet/Intranet.

Responsibilities

  • Codes standard radiology services (X-Ray, Ultrasound, Mammography, CT, MRI, etc.)
  • Works toward learning E&M manual entry.
  • Utilities internal tools and reference materials under supervision.
  • Meets minimum productivity benchmarks.
  • Shows proficiency in coding for at least one of our companies (IIPS/IIAPS/IILLC).
  • Participates in department trainings and QA reviews.
  • Develops and maintains excellent relationship with the physicians and all other providers.
  • Solicits requests for additional information from physicians and providers when necessary.
  • Responds to colleague’s coding requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Responds to patient’s billing inquiries and requests for information.
  • Assists with annual coding audits as requested.
  • Keeps abreast of coding changes and payer guidelines
  • Checks for appropriate codes, billing areas, billing providers, etc.
  • Reviews operative reports and selects the appropriate codes for charges of hospital procedures.
  • Reports information (supplied by hospital, staff and/or physician) to supervisor that may not be correct.
  • Codes procedural reports with the appropriate CPT and ICD10 code to match all services performed.
  • Reviews operative reports/consults in order to code.
  • Reviews E & M codes for appropriate coding and billing.
  • Continuous communication with physicians and staff to ensure that all services provided are accounted for.
  • Monitors and works the Coder Worklist in SCRIPT.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality within the Inland Imaging companies and Inland’s customers.
  • Follows all Health and Safety policies and guidelines of Inland Imaging and its partners depending on work location.

  • Follows all policies regarding HIPAA, non-disclosure of confidential information and company security.
