Greets patients entering area. Obtains demographic, billing information to enter into databases. Obtains patient signatures for documentations. May inform patient of hospital payment requirements. Contacts technical staff to alert them of patient arrival and patient concerns. May participate in the production and release of printed film files, reports or CDs according to HIPAA guidelines. Verifies previous admission information prior to starting the admission process, to ensure non-duplication of medical record numbers. Interviews incoming patients, obtains their signatures on required documents, obtains demographic and insurance information to supply database. Completes records within 24 hours of admission. May inform patients at time of admission about co-pays and deductibles, collecting monies and retaining monies until collected by Accounts Receivable, Security or registration appointee. Informs technical staff of patient arrival and patient concerns. Accurately performs departmental duties – CD production and report copies – accurately. May also FAX documents to parties inside or outside of hospital. May call outside agencies/offices for documentation. Communicates independently acting in a courteous and calm manner, securing confidential information always. Complete all competency and skills assessment forms on a timely basis. Performs other duties as assigned.
