About The Position

The Radiology Assistant will prepare daily patient materials according to the schedule, process all order entries in syngo, and obtain all necessary orders for each modality. Responsibilities include processing all imaging requests, scheduling ultrasounds, Xrays, and MBSS, and obtaining all necessary orders for future appointments/scanning. The assistant will call referring physicians' offices to obtain orders, retrieve voice messages from the appointment line, and utilize the Cyraphone when necessary. Additionally, the role involves processing HIM requests for images, handling high-volume telephones, and interacting in a professional manner with patients, their families, and all hospital personnel and vendors. The assistant will direct anyone needing assistance, input and monitor medical transport requests, monitor patient flow, and inform patients of any delays. Maintaining a clean waiting area and performing miscellaneous tasks in support of the department's activities, such as sorting mail, faxing reports, processing daily covid/labs orders, and calling ED patients for Press Ganey surveys, is also required.

Requirements

  • Computer expertise with knowledge of word processing and database software.
  • Good office and organizational skills are required.
  • Experience with patient/customer environment.
  • Attention to detail and computer accuracy as pertains to data entry and patient scheduling.
  • Competence on basic office machines.
  • Good communication skills for effective and courteous interaction with a diverse group of patients, hospital personnel, physicians and their staff, and the community.
  • Ability to project a positive image of the Department and our services through interaction with patients and their families, outside institutions, physicians, and other Hospital department and staff.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions.
