About The Position

The Radiology Assistant performs specific clerical duties and aids technologists to help with the proper functioning of the department. Specifically, this includes transportation of patients, taking patients to and from examination rooms, assures patients are appropriately gowned, assists with drawing contrast material into automatic injector, setting up sterile trays and obtaining appropriate information for patient examinations. This position coordinates communication activities between radiologists, staff and other departments. This role is also responsible for the accurate maintenance for patient medical records and enters new information in accordance with department standards, including uploading images from PACS.

Requirements

• 1-year experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Radiology or Imaging experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• AHA BCLS required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares supplies, contrast, and saline for all exams ensuring all products are appropriate in accordance with department policy.
• Communicates effectively with patients on exam proceedings and is able to confidently answer any patient inquiries or questions.
• Uploads patient exams/information into PACS.
• Safely transfers patients within the Imaging Department and throughout other hospital departments.
• Utilizes equipment appropriately for its intended use.
• Participates in department meetings.
• Answers phone expediently using department specific phone etiquette, helps patients with requests for films, adding additional physician or other information to order as needed.
• Performs Imaging Services add-on scheduling for all procedures utilizing all computer and telephone systems necessary for this function.
• Other duties as assigned.
