About The Position

A Great Lakes Medical Imaging Radiologist is a key member of a team of partners and staff radiologists, responsible for diagnosing and treating patients across the Great Lakes and Kaleida Health/ECMC system. This role serves as an expert resource for support staff, Patient Service Representatives (PSRs), and technologists regarding patient care and diagnosis. The position primarily involves providing written interpretations for various imaging modalities in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role emphasizes a 'Great Lakes Way' mindset, valuing compassion in every interaction, striving for excellence in quality, and performing as one cohesive team, focusing on patient care, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Board-certified radiologist with current, state-required license.
  • Strong data entry skills when inputting imaging data.
  • Strong computer skills including use of information systems and Google based programs.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills including both phone and in person.
  • Strong customer service skills and diplomacy.
  • Experience in radiology or medical terminology.
  • M.D. / D.O. license.
  • Board Certified Radiologist with completion of fellowship.
  • Current valid ACLS and BLS Certification.
  • Three years of direct clinical experience.
  • Significant experience with computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and/or nuclear medicine/positron emission tomography.
  • Outstanding references indicating a strong history of ethical patient care, exemplary job performance, outstanding collaborative skills, and technical excellence.
  • Detail oriented with a passion for precision.
  • Good bedside manner, demonstrating understanding of patients' concerns.
  • Comfortable with 3-D mammography.
  • Diagnostic breast MRI & ultrasound.
  • Musculoskeletal Body Imaging (urology focused).
  • Breast MRI breast biopsy.
  • Stereotactic biopsy.
  • Ultrasound-guided biopsy and aspiration.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a full range of radiographic procedures/studies as authorized by delineated clinical privileges including, but not limited to, conventional x-rays, ultrasound, MRI, and CT.
  • Performing fluoroscopic procedures/special procedures according to established protocols.
  • Timely interpretation and communication of imaging results (including entry into digital medical record and verbal notification of critical findings).
  • Providing consultation services, comparative reports, and participating in clinical conferences/committees as requested by referring physicians.
  • Participating in quality control/quality management (including department and hospital level peer reviews).
  • Reviews IR consults including utilization management, ensuring appropriate pre- and post-procedural workups.
  • Technical oversight for technologists.
  • Provides oversight for overall safety of patients including establishing protocols, contrast administration and response to adverse patient reactions.
  • Participates in additional research and administrative duties, as assigned.
  • Provide radiology call coverage off hours, as assigned.
  • Follow HIPAA regulations at all times when handling patient images.
  • Work efficiently and collaboratively with other GLMI team members and their respective departments.
  • Participate with facility inspections and accreditations, in conjunction with support staff.
  • Regular attendance in meetings and vendor meetings, as needed.
  • Participation in implementation of new software or hardware, as needed.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • Performs myelograms, arthrograms, lumbar punctures.
  • Performs CT guided and/or ultrasound guided and/or fluoroscopy guided biopsies.
  • Provides on-call coverage for emergency general and/or Interventional Radiology procedures as assigned.
  • Provides oversight of inventory management in Interventional Radiology.
  • General Radiology coverage when time permits during the day and on call.
