About The Position

The Radiologist will examine and diagnose disorders and diseases using diagnostic imaging.

Requirements

  • Instructs radiology staff in desired techniques, positions, or projections.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining clinical competencies according to Gonzaba Medical Group policy.
  • Ensures customer service is always maintained at the highest level.
  • Exercise tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
  • Must always adhere to customer service expectations including in-person and virtual (via telephone, or telehealth applications) communication.
  • Participates in educational programs as needed.
  • Completion of medical school, a medical internship, and medical residency in radiology at an accredited medical facility required.
  • Five years of experience as a Radiologist within a clinical experience required.
  • Computer Skills: Skilled in use of computer/EMR systems. Knowledge of Word processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet, and database software.
  • Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work efficiently under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patients histories from electronic records, patient interviews, dictated reports, and by communicating with referring clinicians. Prepares comprehensive interpretive reports of findings.
  • Performs and interprets the outcomes of diagnostic imaging procedures including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computer tomography (CT), positron emission, and ultrasound. Reviews and transmits images and information using picture archiving and communications systems. Communicates examination results and diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients, and families.
  • Evaluates medical information to determine patients’ risk factors (such as allergies to contrast agents) and to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of procedures.
  • Provides counseling to radiologic patients to explain the processes, risks, benefits, and alternative treatments.
  • Confers with medical professionals regarding image-based diagnoses.
  • Coordinates radiological services with other medical activities. Documents performance, interpretation, and outcomes of procedures performed. Establishes and enforces standards for protection of patients and staff.
  • Develops and monitors procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images.
  • Participates in continuing education activities to maintain and develop expertise.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities including discussions of areas where risk of error is high.
  • Implements protocols in areas such as drugs, radiation control, MRI safety and infection control.
  • Serves as a teleradiologist for satellite facilities that do not have on-site radiologists.
  • Serves as Radiology Medical Director for site accreditations. (ACR and IAC)
