What You'll Do as a Radiological Instrument Technician 3 Ensures internal & OP-06 listed lab equipment is operational & up-to-date on calibration; Performs weekly gamma range check; Performs basic & complex repairs to analog &/or digital electronic radiation detection equipment; Ensures radiological instruments are calibrated to National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) standards & internal laboratory standards; Serves as backup to the quality manager in their absence; Serves as lead worker by providing work direction to lower-level radiological instrument technicians performing repairs & calibrations; Click here to see full position description Emergency Management Agency Coordinates activities to mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters, both natural and man-made. UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Travel may be required; may be required to be on call 24 hrs., 7 days per week. Requires valid driver's license to operate state-owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation. Requirements

  • OPTION 1: 36 mos. exp. in electronics which included at least 12 mos. exp. in using radiation detection instruments, practicing radiation safety & in training of others in radiation safety & procedures/techniques for testing, calibration, repair & maintenance of radiological detection & monitoring instruments; AND 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in inventory control; AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations; AND valid driver's license.
  • OPTION 2: -Or completion of associate core program in electronics, electronics engineering or electrical/electronic engineering; AND 36 mos. exp. in electronics which included at least 12 mos. exp. using radiation detection instruments, practicing radiation safety & in training of others in radiation safety & procedures/techniques for testing, calibration, repair & maintenance of radiological detection & monitoring instruments; AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in inventory control; AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in public relations; AND valid driver's license.
  • OPTION 3: -Or 24 mos. exp. as Radiological Instrument Technician 2, 84422; valid driver's license.
  • -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • Requires valid driver's license to operate state-owned vehicle or must be able to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures internal & OP-06 listed lab equipment is operational & up-to-date on calibration
  • Performs weekly gamma range check
  • Performs basic & complex repairs to analog &/or digital electronic radiation detection equipment
