About The Position

The Radiological Engineer at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) will provide radiological engineering support and oversight for daily activities at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC). This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with radiation protection regulations and the effective implementation of the INL radiological control program. The position operates on a 4x10 schedule, allowing for every Friday off, and reports directly to the Radiological Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Health Physics or related field and 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience for Level 3.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Physics or related field and 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and 6 years of relevant experience for Level 4.
  • NRRPT Certification, Part 1 ABHP certification, or an advanced degree in Health Physics, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance, requiring US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide radiological engineering support and oversight for daily activities regarding Radiation Protection implementation.
  • Implement the RadCon program, including facility air monitoring and bioassay monitoring.
  • Identify program deficiencies and develop corrective actions for the INL radiological control program.
  • Provide technical guidance for the development of radiological control policies and procedures.
  • Review new regulatory requirements for applicability and ensure compliance with radiological control requirements.
  • Review and evaluate proposed radiological work activities and assist with Technical Work Documents development.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of radiological controls and adherence to procedures.
  • Comply with environmental, safety, health, radiation, and quality assurance regulations and policies.
  • Participate in safety-related programs as defined by the Laboratory.
