About The Position

The position involves providing imaging services at a Level I Trauma hospital, performing a variety of patient contact duties related to the operation of radiologic equipment to create clinical diagnostic X-ray images as directed by a physician. The role emphasizes safety protocols, patient interaction, and the efficient use of radiographic equipment.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT Certification
  • Massachusetts DPH Radiologic Technologist License
  • BLS certification
  • Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology
  • Knowledge of the principles of radiation physics
  • Knowledge of radiographic positioning and radiographic equipment
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Physical ability to perform all job functions
  • Computer skills for effective patient care and communication
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to patients and family
  • Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Ability to assess patient specific data relative to age-specific needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in radiologic technology is preferred, but new graduates are considered

Responsibilities

  • Upholds and follows the Standards of Behavior Policy
  • Scheduled rotations in all areas of radiography including Outpatient, Inpatient, OR and Fluoroscopy procedures
  • Conduct equipment system warm-up and quality assurance procedures per established guidelines
  • Follow Radiology Patient Identification Policy
  • Correctly interpret exam requests ensuring history conforms to exam requested
  • Position and follow Emergency, Inpatient and Outpatient exam protocols for patients of all ages
  • Instruct patients regarding the procedures while remaining cognizant of patient's condition
  • Utilize immobilization and supportive devices to obtain desired radiographic positions
  • Select radiographic exposure factors for procedures using the principle of ALARA
  • Maintain a high level of image quality when archiving exams to PACS
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of Radiation Safety, and Hospital and Departmental Policies
  • Maintain knowledge of the location of emergency equipment and procedures necessary to alert the Code Team
  • Responsible for mentoring imaging students and new employees
