About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist performs quality diagnostic x-ray exams to all patient populations of the hospital. X-ray exams are done in the X-ray Department, portably through-out the facility and in the OR. The Radiologic Technologist lifts, assists and transports patients, and performs data entry for exam tracking and patient charging.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Proficient in using PACS and CR systems
  • Must be competent in OR procedures and willing to be trained
  • NJ Certified X-Ray Technologist (NJ CXT)
  • ARRT or ARRT eligible

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Radiologic Tech experience in a hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of exam protocols including prep, positioning, safety, technique, processing and image labeling
  • Operate Radiology equipment in a safe and efficient manner, keep room and equipment clean and in good order, and report all equipment malfunctions to supervisor
  • Produce high quality radiographs including proper positioning, markers, shielding, technique and image quality
  • Track status of exams to completion using RIS and demonstrate working knowledge of order entry system and accurately place orders
  • Perform necessary QA and record keeping functions routinely or as assigned
  • Effectively communicate exam instructions to patients, answer questions and allay anxiety
  • Use translation system when needed
  • Achieve IV Contrast Administrative competence if desired (required from CT and MRI techs) and MRI tech and safely administers contrast media
  • Transport patients from holding area to exam rooms, to and/or from ER when necessary, and assist with transport of patient from unit to/from Radiology department
  • Operate equipment in surgical suite, observe sterile precautions, and anticipate needs of surgeon
  • Utilize PACS and CR system and enter accurately identified and labeled images of patients, and retrieve old images and films, when necessary
  • Supervise radiology students and perform evaluations when necessary
