About The Position

Radiologic Technologists are in charge of obtaining quality radiographs of patients’ bones, organs and soft tissues according to the orders sent by the ordering providers. Assists the X-ray/CT techs in performing CT’s. And the x-ray technologist must be willing to cross-train into CT and/or MRI and be willing move into an X-ray/CT or MRI position once they have acquired their ARRT(CT) or (MRI) credentials. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • Associates degree or certificate from and accredited Radiography program.
  • Valid Medical Radiologic Technologist Board of Examiners (MRTBE) license in Arizona.
  • Current Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Providers BLS certification.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.
  • Knowledge of applicable tribal, federal, state, county and local laws and regulations; including The Joint Commission accreditation.
  • Knowledge of company personnel policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of radiation protection standards and devices.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of and skill in positioning of patients for various radiographic examinations, to include trauma situations.
  • Ability to care for all age groups; pediatric, geriatric, and adult patients.
  • Ability to work with and care for people of varying ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to understand and follow diagnostic imaging procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar and mathematics.
  • Ability to read and understand Provider orders.
  • Knowledge of institutional regulations regarding patient care, fire safety, infection control, disaster plans and emergency codes.
  • Ability to use supplies in a cost-effective manner by preventing waste and use of excess inventory.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work independently when needed.
  • Skilled in operating business computers and office machines. Including Word, Excel, Zoom, Teams, DocuSign, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions and implementing recommendations.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain and care for department equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify each patient and review each patient's requisition, for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all pertinent information.
  • Assess patient condition, ensure the quality and continuity of patient care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Coordinate radiographic examinations to ensure patient safety using restraint and support devices.
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy, present completed examinations to the Radiologist.
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper film identification on all images.
  • Maintain accurate patient daily log documentation.
  • Initiate applicable “incident reports” in the Meditech Expanse system by the end of shift.
  • Activate the recall of other services (i.e., CT, Ultrasound and MRI) when those resources are not present in the department.
  • Maintain cooperative communication with other departments.
  • Ensure that all procedures performed are recorded properly in the Meditech Expanse system so that the hospital is reimbursed for services provided.
  • Perform all duties as a Radiologic Technologist while maintaining competencies.
  • Actively cross-train into CT in order to move out of the X-ray Tech position and into a CT/XR position.
  • Participate in orientation, department, and hospital mandatory training sessions to ensure competency and compliance.
  • Maintain security of sensitive information in compliance with all HIPAA laws and Sage Memorial Hospital regulations.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the training of the radiology student technologists.
  • Follow up on their work to ensure it is completely done, that the Radiologist has not requested further images or information and that the report has been returned to the ordering provider in the appropriate amount of time.
  • Transfer images to FMC utilizing our PACs server, burn images to DVDR, print image sharing labels using the CryptoChart system, print and/or fax reports as needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the department.
  • Recognize, troubleshoot, initiate maintenance and third party workorders for damaged and/or malfunctioning equipment and hospital property.
  • Maintain technical accreditation through the ARRT by completing all continuing education requirements.
  • Help to maintain adequate stock levels by keeping Medical Imaging Supervisor abreast of items running low.
  • Performs other duties as required.
