At the direction of a radiologist or other providers, prepares patients and performs radiographic procedures in diagnostic radiology and operates imaging equipment. Performs diagnostic studies according to specific guidelines and prescribed protocols while utilizing appropriate radiation protection measures. Adheres to organizational customer service standards and supports the organizational excellence initiatives. Provides positive and effective interaction and communication with patients, visitors, and staff. Performs ancillary services and assists in patient care areas as necessary. Variety of Cases: Techs encounter a wide range of injuries, from fractures to life-threatening trauma, offering a diverse and constantly evolving set of challenges. Collaboration with Medical Teams: Close teamwork with ER doctors, trauma surgeons, and other healthcare professionals is essential to quickly assess and provide the necessary imaging for treatment planning. Exposure to Advanced Imaging Techniques: X-ray techs in trauma centers often work with specialized imaging equipment and may be involved in real-time imaging for procedures like surgeries or emergency interventions. Diverse Adult Patient Population: The trauma center serves patients of all ages and backgrounds, requiring flexibility and adaptability in imaging protocols and patient care. On-the-Job Learning: Given the urgency and complexity of trauma cases, techs often gain hands-on experience with uncommon or challenging cases, expanding their skill set rapidly.
