The Radiologic Technologist provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions. This role requires demonstrating skills and knowledge in the use of all x-ray equipment and performance of all x-ray protocols and procedures. The technologist must demonstrate technical proficiency in producing high-quality exams within the appropriate length of time for the procedure. Day to day, the technologist will demonstrate technical skills and knowledge in the use of all x-ray equipment, protocols, procedures, and producing high-quality exams. They will explain procedures to patients and families, answer questions, ease anxiety, and address concerns. The technologist must recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action for a positive outcome. They will evaluate critical test findings and review anatomic details and abnormalities on scans with radiologists if needed. Additionally, the technologist will maintain supply levels, clean and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and immediately report dangerous conditions to the appropriate person. They will input and verify all data in PACS/RADIANT, maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone, and follow all quality control checks. The role also involves ensuring continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient. The technologist is expected to contribute to the team by assisting others without being asked.
