About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist position at Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, WI, involves performing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of alternating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties. The technologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and may be asked to flex hours and work overtime to ensure quality patient care. Responsibilities include operating imaging equipment, providing patient education, and adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • One (1) to Three (3) years experience preferred.
  • ARRT Radiography registration required.
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois.
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Reviews patients' clinical history ensuring that appropriate order placed and labs are within range as needed.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary.
  • Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors.
  • Follows ALARA principles through accurate exposure factors and radiographic techniques.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Reports and documents XR safety incidents/adverse events per protocol.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
  • Assists with medical record/image sharing as necessary.
  • Documents all information pertinent to XR/FL procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.
  • Provides practical instruction for radiography students and partners.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Prepares contrast media and assists in administration.
