About The Position

Overview Riverside Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Radiologic Technologist to join our Radiology team in Kankakee, Illinois. The Radiologic Technologist will perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including routine and specialized radiographic examinations, and assist radiologists and licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure the highest quality of patient care and imaging services, with a focus on patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure. Essential Duties Perform Diagnostic Imaging: Conduct high-quality diagnostic radiographic procedures, including X-rays and fluoroscopic examinations. Assist radiologists and licensed practitioners with the setup and performance of fluoroscopic procedures. Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort. Select and operate radiographic equipment and associated accessories, determining appropriate exposure factors. Use collimation and markers appropriately on images and verify patient identity using two identifiers. Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) . Patient Care and Safety: Assume responsibility for addressing the physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Explain tests and procedures to patients, ensuring they understand the process and feel comfortable. Immobilize patients as required for the appropriate examination, applying principles of radiation safety to minimize risk. Documentation and Record Keeping: Complete documentation related to fluoroscopic procedures. Complete exams, including detailed documentation in EMR and PACS systems. Document a thorough patient clinical history in appropriate locations and enter orders into EMR using the correct account number. Maintain archival storage of digital images and create CD or film copies as needed. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care. Maintain open communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Maintenance and Organization: Clean and stock examination rooms, including maintaining procedural supply stock and blanket warmers. Report equipment malfunctions immediately to the appropriate department and enter work tickets as needed. Participates in departments quality Assessment and continuous quality improvement plan. Conduct quality control (QC) checks on equipment and imaging systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. On-Call Availability: Be available for on-call duties as required, providing imaging services promptly when needed. Non-essential Duties Assist in the training and supervision of new radiologic technologists or students, providing practical instructions. Requirements

  • Associates degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • IEMA Certification Required in Radiography
  • Graduate of AMA and accredited program in medical imaging and registry eligible.
  • ARRT RT (R) eligible or obtain with in 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
