About The Position

The Radiology Tech operates imaging equipment and performs diagnostic x-rays as ordered by the physician and under the guidance of the physician. Assists in preparing the operating/procedure rooms, as needed. Documents duration of radiation and results of tests/examinations in patient's chart.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree Radiologic Technology and/or Diploma/Equivalent Radiologic Technology.
• Completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school for degree, or diploma by which the graduate would qualify as a Registered Radiologic Technologist.
• 1 year rad tech experience preferred.
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist in Florida.
• American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic examinations.
• Accurately performs radiological exams to department standards including technique, positioning, protocols and administration of contrast material.
• Assures quality of images presented to radiologist for interpretation and consults with doctor to obtain optimum quality.
• Follows protocols and participates in quality control programs, when appropriate.
• Completes assigned procedures in a timely manner and assists in preparing the operating/procedure room for the next procedure.
• Applies the prescribed procedures to competently perform radiology technician functions.
• Ensures compliance with all Florida radiological standards and regulations.
• Follows manufacturer’s specifications and OSHA guidelines when performing x-ray procedure.
• Correctly uses, cares for, cleans, and sterilizes instruments, supplies, and equipment as directed.
• Maintains adequate supplies to provide immediate availability during the procedure.
