The Radiologic Technologist PRN System Bone Densitometry performs radiographic examinations of various anatomical parts and systems of the body to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating physical injuries or medical disorders. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

  • Perform radiographic examinations of various anatomical parts and systems.
  • Assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of physical injuries or medical disorders.
  • Operate and perform basic computer programs associated with record keeping in the department.
  • Demonstrate excellent human relation skills to deal with patients, providers, and others in sensitive situations.

  • Work on a rotational basis in several areas of the radiology department performing routine and advanced diagnostic procedures.
  • Receive or escort patients into examination areas and review pertinent patient information.
  • Instruct patients concerning the examination to be performed.
  • Position patients to obtain specified results for diagnoses.
  • Set up and adjust supportive and immobilization devices as necessary.
  • Apply and adjust radiation protective shielding as needed.
  • Operate various diagnostic radiographic equipment to provide optimal examinations.
  • Consult with radiologists to clarify orders or discuss unusual situations.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or necessary adjustments immediately.
  • Assist providers in administering prescribed radiolucent or radiopaque media for examinations.
  • Perform first aid as required and assist in emergencies.
  • Observe and practice sterile technique.
  • Maintain cleanliness of procedure rooms and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient and file information.
  • Maintain appropriate supply levels in their area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate or oversee on-the-job training for student technologists and other non-professional assistants as assigned.
  • Must have a Certificate of Completion of a Hospital-based program or Associate's degree from an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
  • Registered ARRT required or registry eligible; must receive registry within 6 months of hire date.
  • Must complete BLS training course within 6 months of hire.
