About The Position

General Function: Prescribes ionizing radiation for Radiologic examinations on patients while maintaining ALARA. Operates x-ray equipment, process images, prepares patient rooms, maintains supplies and medications, and completes all documentation. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Educational Requirements: High school graduate. Two years of training in a School of Radiologic Technology in a hospital-based certificate program or a degree in a college. Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology and/or Licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Radiologic Technology. Experience Requirements: Must be able to operate radiographic equipment within multiple medical environments (surgical, clinical, and emergent) in a safe and responsible manner. Infection hazards. 1. Attends in-services to maintain currency in required knowledge and skills. 2. Demonstrates knowledge and safety skills. 3. Practices aseptic technique, washes hands before and after each patient, observes isolation and infection control procedures. Sharps hazards. 1. Attends in-services to maintain currency in required knowledge and skills. 2. Demonstrates knowledge and safety skills. Lifting, stooping, bending, and standing for long periods hazards. 1. Attends in-services to maintain currency in required knowledge and skills. 2. Demonstrates knowledge and safety skill. Radiation hazards. 1. Attends in-services to maintain currency in required knowledge and skills. 2. Demonstrates knowledge and safety skills. 3. Routinely wears film badge, stores in appropriate area, follows up on cumulative doses. 4. Uses lead shielding or provides protective clothing for patients and public from any unnecessary radiation.
