About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist Level II position at NYC Health + Hospitals involves responsible clinical and administrative work within the Radiology department. The role includes operating x-ray equipment, developing images, and preparing radiological areas, equipment, supplies, and contrast materials. Technologists at this level perform complex activities of a higher technical level in the delivery of radiographic services and may supervise assigned radiographic and ancillary personnel. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and effective use of electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation.

Requirements

  • Valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH.

  • Ability to be cross-assigned to different imaging settings depending on patient volume and staffing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares radiological area, equipment, contrast materials and supplies for patients.
  • Prepares patients for x-ray, explains procedures, transfers patients to table, positions patients, and assists patients at the end of procedures.
  • Follows prescribed techniques to administer general and specific x-rays, adjusting equipment and determining proper voltage, current, and exposure time.
  • Develops images in accordance with photographic techniques.
  • Observes patients and machines during procedures, reporting unusual occurrences and recording patients' conditions.
  • Maintains supplies, equipment, and required records.
  • Transports and uses mobile x-ray equipment in patient care areas as required.
  • Follows all proper radiation, patient, and employee safety protocols; adheres to radiation prevention, containment, and control measures.
  • Effectively uses electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient encounters and access pertinent patient data and imaging results.
  • Performs procedures on patients requiring specialized expertise.
  • Assists Radiologists and other healthcare professionals in diagnostic or treatment procedures.
  • Performs diagnostic testing on equipment and general maintenance.
  • Monitors patient and equipment condition during procedures and reports changes to appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Assists and guides radiographers in performing a variety of x-ray procedures.
  • Trains and assists radiographers in a variety of x-ray procedures.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates day-to-day activities to ensure continuous workflow.
  • Supervises radiographers and ancillary personnel assigned to the area.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure operational viability.
