About the position

Under the direction of a Workflow Coordinator, Manager/Supervisor and or Team Leader, performs or assists in radiographic procedures at a level that does not require direct supervision over technical detail. Performs and assists in a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, good knowledge of anatomy, positioning and a thorough technical knowledge of equipment. Assumes responsibility for a designated area or procedure as may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all routine radiographic procedures according to department standards, protocols and guidelines required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the State of Connecticut.
  • Exhibits proficiency in conducting routine radiographic procedures and fluoroscopic exams including gastro-intestinal studies, ERCP's, Arthrography, Hysterosalpingography, Urography and portable X-Ray equipment including C Arm procedures.
  • Provides proper clinical patient care while performing diagnostic procedures.
  • Provides careful critique and assessment over the image quality.
  • Exhibits accuracy in computer documentation.
  • Mentors students in the clinical and ethical aspects of the Radiologic Technologist profession.
  • Maintains stock levels and personal protection equipment of assigned stations.
  • Exhibits constant awareness of infection control standards.
  • Works cooperatively to accomplish a task as a member of the team.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as may be required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) National Board, and have a State of Connecticut License to practice Radiographic technical procedures or receive within 3 months of graduation.
  • On an ongoing basis the incumbent must obtain the mandatory number of continued educational units (CEU's) needed to maintain the currency of state licensure.
  • Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire and maintain clinical competency during employment with ECHN in this role.
  • Must be fully knowledgeable and capable of performing independently in at least two modalities.
  • Must have complete working knowledge in the principles of physics, anatomy, medical terminology, sterile technique and radiation protection as it relates to Radiology practice.
  • Radiologic Technologists must meet the ECHN age specific knowledge/skill requirement, annually complete ECHN's mandatory education program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual capabilities in Spanish are desirable, but not required.
