Assists in the delivery of health care and patient care management by performing radiological examinations and other clinical support functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Prior healthcare experience strongly preferred; Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Completion of education in radiological technology approved by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists and currently licensed in the State of Vermont.
  • Experience preferred; will consider new graduate.
  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures operation and radiology equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirement, trouble-shooting malfunctions, maintaining equipment, inventories, calling for repairs and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains radiology supplies by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specific position and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Maintains production and quality of x-ray films by following established standards and procedures, developing and observing film results and making necessary adjustments.
  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
  • Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patient questions and maintaining the reception area.
  • Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
