About The Position

This role focuses on using various imaging techniques and practices to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Diagnostic Radiology duties: Evaluates physical conditions related to diagnostics are typically technically skilled and able to operate medical imaging equipment for this purpose. A clinical technologist role that has specialized knowledge or skills gained through a combination of vocational education, training, and experience. This role will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs. An experienced level role requiring basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and requiring vocational or technical education. Works under moderate supervision, works through problems of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures and communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of approved School of Radiological Technology.
  • Certification granted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).
  • Licensed by the Massachusetts Radiation Control Board.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

  • Two (2) years directly related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies each patient and reviews each patient's requisition for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
  • Records pertinent data on Radiologic requisition at all times.
  • Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to appropriate supervisor, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images, and ensures proper film identification on all images.
  • Coordinates radiographic examination to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care and assists with the management of the workflow of the department.
  • Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all hospital-related information.
  • Initiates applicable incident reports by end of shift and reports incomplete and incorrect examinations.
  • Reports all safety hazards that could harm patients, visitors, or other hospital employees to appropriate supervisors immediately.
  • Educates each patient in a professional manner, explanation includes what the patient should expect and the timeliness of the exam.
  • Takes the initiative to meet customer's needs and solve customer's problems or finds someone who can.
  • Complies with safety, infection control and environmental control policies and procedures for the department.
  • Provides lowest possible radiation exposure to staff, patients and families according to ALARA guidelines.
