About The Position

Dignity Health - Marian Regional Medical Center, founded in 1940, is a 191-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital in Santa Maria, California, serving over 250,000 patients annually. It offers a full range of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, cancer care, orthopedics, and stroke care. The medical center is recognized as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer and is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center, also being the only facility on the Central Coast to offer ECMO. As a Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) Extern, you will be crucial in producing diagnostic images for Radiologists to accurately diagnose and manage patient conditions. Your daily tasks will involve performing various imaging examinations such as X-rays, ultrasound, diagnostic fluoroscopy, CT/CAT scans, and MRIs, while ensuring a positive patient experience through direct interaction. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of diagnostic imaging's importance, including expertise in workflow, patient positioning, and capturing precise results for timely and accurate diagnoses.

Requirements

  • Recently received a certification of completion from a Radiologic Technology program, obtained no more than 1 year prior to date of hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Operates Radiographic, Tomographic, Fluoroscopic and mobile Radiographic and Fluoroscopic equipments.
  • Sets technical factors and follows established protocols to produce diagnostic images
  • Uses positioning and immobilization devices as appropriate in safe and effective manner
  • Assesses patient prior to performing procedures.
  • Assures there is a written order prior to performing the procedure.
  • Obtains pertinent clinical information prior to the exam and reviews comparison and complimenting procedures or reports when available.
  • Assesses monitors the patient, reports and documents changes in the patient condition and/or support equipment (IV, O2, Chest Tubes, ET Tube, etc.).
  • Assist Radiologist/Physician during procedure, including sterile technique.
  • Implements AIDET and National Patient Safety Goals as standard to interacting with Imaging Patients.
