About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing and operating radiographic equipment for angiographic and interventional procedures. The role supports patient preparation, image processing and quality control, and intra-procedural technical functions. The technologist works collaboratively with physicians and cath lab/interventional radiology staff to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient operation of specialty procedure labs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment, including discretion in handling confidential patient information.
  • Computer proficiency, including experience with specialized imaging systems (e.g., digital platforms and three-dimensional reconstruction).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate, safe, and effective patient care.
  • Willingness and ability to train on, and maintain competency in, new equipment, procedures, and evolving technologies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, including situations involving medical emergencies, grief, and death.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including lead aprons, radiation monitoring devices, and latex-containing materials or appropriate substitutes.
  • Ability to move freely throughout the facility, with or without reasonable accommodation, and to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Sufficient vision, depth perception, color discrimination, and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, to safely operate equipment, monitor patients, and respond to verbal and visual cues.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with frequent postural changes including bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms for positioning patients, manipulating equipment, and performing fine motor tasks.
  • Ability to lift, transfer, push, and pull patients, equipment, and supplies in accordance with departmental safe-handling guidelines (may include lifting up to 30 pounds independently and greater weights with assistance or mechanical devices).
  • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, chemicals, radiation, and other potentially infectious or hazardous materials; adherence to all safety and infection control protocols is required.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Radiologic Technology
  • Must hold and maintain current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Must obtain ACLS certification within 12 months of hire and maintain certification thereafter. The organization will provide and cover the cost of ACLS training and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients, procedure rooms, and sterile trays; gather necessary supplies and perform room turnover and cleanup.
  • Process images and perform quality control checks on cine and radiographic studies.
  • Apply knowledge of radiation safety standards, protection principles, and emergency procedures.
  • Scrub in and assist physicians during procedures.
  • Set up, manipulate, and operate radiographic equipment using appropriate techniques to achieve optimal image quality in accordance with established protocols.
  • Operate procedural controls to position the radiographic table and C-arm, ensuring all relevant anatomy is visualized on fluoroscopic monitors and final images; assist physicians in obtaining optimal projections.
  • Operate and support additional intra-procedural equipment, including hemodynamic monitoring systems, pacemakers, cardiac output devices, and related technologies.
  • Stock supplies and maintain equipment
  • Perform basic clerical and administrative functions in support of department operations.
  • Provide care appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patient populations served, in accordance with departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
