This Radiologic Technologist Assistant role supports the delivery of individualized healthcare services by assisting a registered radiologic technologist with limited radiographic procedures, while adhering to safety protocols. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current enrollment in good standing in an accredited Medical Imaging Program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures and operation/maintenance of radiology equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate radiology equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for visit by completing documentation, answering questions, and ensuring understanding of procedure.
  • Cleans and prepares the examination room for next appointment.
  • Verifies physician orders and procedures for accuracy to ensure provider is prepared for visit.
  • Maintains radiographic equipment and work area to departmental standards.
  • Performs radiology imaging adhering to LSBME standards and ALARA principle.
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met.
  • Performs quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards in a timely manner and perform notification/remediation as necessary.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
