Under direct supervision of a certified (ARRT) technologist, the Radiologic Technologist Assistant (Student) plans, organizes, and directs all technical aspects including equipment and related personnel of the x-ray and fluoroscopy department, while dependently working with a certified technologist. Works dependently with a certified technologist in all clinical and technical aspects of patient care including proper use of equipment required for care of the patient, orientation, and education of personnel, quality improvement, and education along with infection prevention. May serve on organizational committees as needed or appointed. RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS): Assists in performing patient care under direct supervision and based on departmental imaging protocols limited to diagnostic radiology x-ray exams including portable exams. Provides care to all patients according to Imaging Services policy and procedures and patient care standards. Performs procedures in the ED, ICU, and other nursing units using portable equipment. Generates patient requisitions by entering orders, assigning x-ray numbers, marking the film with correct patient information, pulling folders, filing reports, filing folders, and acknowledging patient charges. Transports patients as needed to and from Imaging Services. Marks and labels films correctly. Practices radiation safety techniques. Assists the technologist during fluoroscopic and other special procedures requiring sterile techniques. Takes direction from physicians/providers and leaders and follows through in a concise manner to promotes efficiency. Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts. Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings. Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory. Must adhere to safety protocols at all times. Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations. This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
