About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated individual to join the Imaging Sciences-General X-Ray department as a Radiologic Technologist. This position is responsible for producing high-quality X-ray images in an inpatient setting by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. The technologist will verify and follow referring providers' orders while remaining compliant with departmental policies. The role requires a sound understanding of human anatomy, X-ray positioning, and the use of immobilization devices when necessary. The technologist will receive training and regular supervision from a more senior technologist to ensure proficiency in required tasks. Independent responsibility for performing general section studies safely and efficiently is expected, along with completing all associated paperwork and computer work while providing high-quality images for radiologist interpretation.

Requirements

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Current NYS licensure as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) upon hire.
• ARRT certification with CE credits upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares room and patient per order.
• Properly sets up equipment, positions patients, and determines proper exposure factors to produce a high-quality image.
• Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider.
• Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
• Maintains appropriate supplies in the X-ray rooms.
• Produces a diagnostic, high-quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.
• Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats.
• Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
• Completes and bills for studies accurately.
• May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
