About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist position at Advocate Health involves performing basic to advanced radiologic procedures, including general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, and c-arm procedures. The role requires effective communication with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, and ensure patient understanding. The technologist will position patients, select exposure factors, and provide radiation protection in accordance with prescribed methods. Responsibilities also include identifying patients, labeling images, processing images for quality, and assisting physicians. The position requires maintaining records, entering patient information into the radiology information system, and documenting billing codes. The technologist will serve as a technical resource and role model for students and staff, assist with accreditation efforts, and perform various patient positioning and transporting duties. Knowledge of age-specific care and the ability to assess patient needs is essential.

Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 6 months unless exempted.
  • Advanced training beyond High School in an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Competent in radiology positioning and techniques.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety, anatomy, and radiology equipment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to advanced radiologic procedures including general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, and c-arm procedures.
  • Communicate with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, and address questions or concerns.
  • Position patients and select exposure factors for various radiologic examinations.
  • Provide patient with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Identify patients and label images, ensuring exam accuracy and quality of radiographs.
  • Assist and consult with physicians, working independently outside the department.
  • Prepare and maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Document billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Serve as a technical resource and role model for students and staff.
  • Assist with accreditation efforts.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique.
