About The Position

Under general supervision, prepares patients for and performs Radiologic examinations. The role involves using ALARA and safety principles at all times, displaying flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers. The position provides healthcare services in the job category to all age groups and demonstrates competence in interpersonal relationships. Responsibilities include completing all assigned procedures in a timely manner, utilizing Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS, and maintaining a safe working environment. The technologist will also assist student technologists, transport patients using appropriate body mechanics, and follow Universal Protocol for patient identification and communication.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT License for Radiologic Technologist.
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
  • Fluoroscopy License - New hires have 6 months from date of hire to obtain.
  • BCLS or ACLS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for and performs Radiologic examinations.
  • Uses ALARA and safety principles at all times.
  • Displays flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with customers.
  • Provides healthcare services in own job category to all age groups.
  • Demonstrates competence in interpersonal relationships to all age groups.
  • Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to assist others, perform clerical duties, and stock supplies.
  • Utilizes Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS.
  • Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel while maintaining good phone etiquette.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and keeps work area clean and free of hazards.
  • Maintains appropriate quantities of medical stock for the department.
  • Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and practice, including maintaining current licensure and completing educational requirements.
  • Understands role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only.
  • Adheres to infection control guidelines and uses good handwashing technique.
  • Assists student technologists who may rotate through the department.
  • Transports and moves patients using appropriate body mechanics and safety precautions.
  • Follows Universal Protocol by using two patient identifiers prior to working with a patient.
  • Provides patient and family with information/instructions regarding procedures and evaluates barriers to understanding.
  • Evaluates patients' medical histories and clinical data.
  • Completes necessary paperwork and notes discrepancies according to departmental procedure.
  • Determines need for translation services or communication aides and arranges for appropriate resources.

  • Compensation Range: $51.70 - $51.70 / Hour
