Under general supervision, the Radiologic Tech I prepares patients for and performs Radiologic examinations. The role emphasizes using ALARA and safety principles at all times, alongside displaying flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when interacting with customers. This position provides healthcare services to all age groups and requires competence in interpersonal relationships. The technologist is expected to complete all assigned procedures in a timely manner, utilizing time between procedures to assist the department with tasks such as clerical duties, stocking, and transporting. Proficiency with Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS is essential. The role also involves answering technical telephone inquiries from physicians or hospital personnel, maintaining a safe working environment by keeping the area clean, reporting faulty equipment, and observing safety guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining appropriate quantities of medical stock, assuming accountability for professional growth (including current licensure and educational requirements), understanding medication security, and adhering to infection control guidelines. The technologist will assist student technologists, transport and move patients safely using appropriate body mechanics and devices, and follow Universal Protocol for patient identification and hand-off communication. Providing patients and families with procedure information, evaluating barriers to understanding, assessing medical histories and clinical data, completing necessary paperwork, and arranging for translation services are also key aspects of the position.
