Job Summary Per Diem- Saturdays 11:00am - 7:30pm Under the general direction of the diagnostic supervisor and lead technologist, the radiographer performs a variety of patient care duties to produce high quality radiologic images including general radiography, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging.

Requirements

  • Must have graduated from an approved program in Radiologic Sciences
  • Must maintain a current Massachusetts state license as a Radiologic technologist
  • Must maintain a current ARRT registry in Radiologic Sciences
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT certification within 1 year of start of employment
  • Must maintain a current BLS
  • Staff adheres to all I.C.A.R.E. Standards
  • Effectively and efficiently produce high quality radiographic imaging studies
  • Must be able to multi-task and think in a proactive manner
  • 0-2 years’ experience as a Radiologic technologist
  • Must have completed a minimum of 2 years clinical internship via Radiologic Sciences program

Responsibilities

  • Performs various radiographic imaging in areas including OR, ER, pain clinic, orthopedic and fluoroscopy
  • Provides radiation protection by placing and adjusting lead shield(s) and collimating in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Directs personnel and others to safe areas before exposure
  • Assists radiologists, speech pathologists, and surgeons in their respective areas with room preparation, exam completion and room turnover
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge of Radiation Safety, Hospital and Departmental Policies. Attends staff meetings, in-services, and maintains appropriate CEU's in accordance with Massachusetts Radiation Control program and ARRT requirements
  • Maintains knowledge of location of emergency equipment, code carts and procedures to alert code teams
  • Mentors and assists in the training of Radiologic Technologist students and new staff in performing Radiologic exams, sterile technique, and proper stocking of supplies in radiographic rooms
  • Participates in the quality assurance plan for the Diagnostic Imaging program. Participates in the research and development of new exam and protocols
  • Enters the appropriate charges into the EMR accurately for all exams
  • Ensures that all exams of high quality and available for interpretation in a timely fashion
  • Follows workflow plan developed by the supervisor and lead technologist
  • Monitors the equipment performance and takes the appropriate measures to have the problems resolved (i.e. arrange service/repairs)
  • Consistently demonstrates effective communication, both written and verbal, with all departmental, hospital staff, and vendors
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care
