About The Position

The Interventional Radiographer delivers specialized care and treatment to patients undergoing any type of interventional procedures. The staff is on-call for off-shifts and weekends. The Interventional Radiographer is responsible, under the direction of the Manager, to provide quality care to the patient undergoing procedures in the Vascular Interventional Lab.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT certified or eligible.
  • Must have current permit issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
  • BCLS certification.

  • Previous vascular/interventional lab experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Aware of hospital and department compliance for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior.
  • Completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies and department/unit specific competencies.
  • Function in the Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Vascular Lab as needed.
  • Administers contrast agents according to procedure guidelines and states correct flow rates utilizing power injector.
  • Maintains compliance and is responsible for executing and monitoring technical practices to meet necessary standards.
  • Understands and adheres to all safety practices (ALARA) while performing duties.
  • Promotes the development, preparation, implementation and attainment of departmental goals, policies and projects.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of computer programs as assigned by department.
  • Communicates with department supervisors when problems or unusual circumstances arise.
  • Prioritizes work appropriately and assists others as time and workload allows.
  • Attends in services, BCLS, ACLS, on-the-job training and continuing education programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Able to take call based on 'on-call' policy.
  • Maintains EKG rhythm interpretation skills.
  • Maintains ability to perform in emergency or Code Blue roles.
  • Maintains knowledge of patient equipment and therapeutic modalities utilized in the Cath Lab or Vascular Interventional Lab.
  • Maintains knowledge of medications used in the Cath Lab or Vascular Interventional Lab.
  • Participates in education, community activities and performance improvement projects.
  • Oversees maintenance and provides troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Supports and performs exams within the guidelines of the Imaging Gently Campaign.
