JOB TYPE Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY The Multimodality Technologist II is assigned to work in at least 2 modalities. Must possess a certification in Radiology, Ultrasound, Mammography, CT, Nuclear Medicine and/or Radiation Therapy and must be cross-training in MRI or possess the MRI certification . Assist physicians in the performance of diagnostic and / or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the imaging equipment in order to obtain diagnostic images. Integrates scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. Patient Care: Ensures patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department. Explains the procedure and post-procedure orders to the patient to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety. Prioritizes workflow in regard to patient condition and ensures patients’ arrival and departure occur in a timely manner. Adheres to ALARA standards. Maintains and ensures compliance of safety components in the MR environment such as magnetic field safety and zoning, patient safety (implants, hearing protection, thermal heating), emergency procedures, etc. Provides an atmosphere conducive to gain the patient's cooperation and confidence. Utilizes data received from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities to improve and participates in the planning and improvement process. Compliance: Follows and supports OSHA regulations and uses universal precautions when required. Cleans examination surfaces between patients. Provides clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels. Immediately cleans spills following universal precautions. Properly stores accessory equipment when not in use. Teamwork: Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers. Facilitates and participates in regular staff meetings. Technical Competency: Follows routine standards and properly and safely manipulates equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images. Maintains sterile fields and equipment integrity throughout procedures, adhering to infection prevention standards. Adjusts diagnostic equipment to achieve appropriate density, contrast, and anatomical detail, ensuring diagnostic quality. Performs required warm-up routines and quality control checks prior to use, documenting any variances or malfunctions. Follows established imaging protocols to visualize internal structures, modifying technique only when clinically indicated. Critiques acquired images for clarity, positioning, and completeness; determines the need for repeat imaging based on clinical and technical criteria. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
