GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Quality Assurance Technician / Radiographer is responsible for upholding the SPVG Quality Mission Statement by the use and enforcement of the quality systems throughout SPVG. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1) Perform radiographic inspection of welds under the guidelines of ASNT-TC-1A and Section V of the ASME Code. 2) Meet all necessary requirements to hold Level 2 Certification for Radiographic Testing in accordance with Silvan Written Practice SI-WP-1 and Radiographic Testing Procedure SI-RT-01. 3) Accumulate and Record Radiographic Inspection hours. 4) Inspect and record radiographic results in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A, Section V of the ASME code, Radiographic Testing Procedure SI-RT-01and Silvan Written Practice SI-WP-1. 5) Perform and record in process inspections throughout Silvan. 6) Interface effectively with the Operations (floor and office) Department, the Materials Management Department, the Marketing Services Department, as well as other Quality Assurance Personnel, to clearly communicate the quality status of particular jobs. 7) Operate proper measuring and test equipment in accordance with departmental procedures. 8) Perform and record necessary non-destructive tests throughout Silvan, including visual, magnetic particle, visible dye penetrant, and radiography inspection. 9) Properly utilize the non-conforming product systems. 10) Initiate, or help floor personnel initiate, corrective measures through established systems. 11) Assist Quality Assurance Manager and in special projects or systems development. 12) Monitoring and enforcement of the Quality Control Manual, sessions, and other relevant procedures. 13) Assist in the maintenance of the calibration process, and assist in performing calibration activities on measuring and test equipment. 14) Perform random inspection activities at a frequency determined by the Quality Assurance Manager. 15) Investigate and Document possible root causes of in process deficiencies and propose preventative measures to eliminate the deficiencies. 16) Perform scheduling, execution, developing, and interpretation of required radiographic non-destructive examinations. Preserve and maintain radiographic testing results, and report the results to the appropriate management representatives. 17) This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and management, as required. Staffing of positions to be determined by Company, as requirements warrant. 18) As a SPVG employee, you are required to understand the ISO system and the elements that affect your job. EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE: 1) Tape measure, levels, calipers, micrometer, thread gauges, pressure gauges, ultrasonic thickness gauge, mill thickness gauge, pyrometer, and other measure & test equipment. 2) Forklifts, hoists, handcarts, and other material handling equipment. 3) Basic hand tools (both manual and power). 4) Basic Welding Techniques. 5) Knowledge of personal computer and various software packages. 6) Electronic Data Collection Bar Code Readers. 7) Computer software, including electronic mail functions, and shop floor inquiry functions. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1) Some form of relevant formal training, ability to accurately read blueprints related to welding fabrication, good oral communication skills, ability to operate personal computers and other electronic data processing equipment, 1 year experience in a like environment, or a minimum of 1 year, post high school education in a related field.
