About The Position

The Radiochemist with Radiopharmaceutical Production and Quality Assurance Role at Stony Brook University is a pivotal position responsible for the production of PET radiotracers intended for human use. This role requires a strong foundation in chemistry, particularly in the areas of organic and analytical chemistry, as well as a thorough understanding of radiochemistry. The successful candidate will lead the production of short half-life radioisotopes such as 11C, 18F, and 68Ga, which are essential for clinical and preclinical studies. The position involves developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for tracer production, ensuring compliance with cGMP regulations, and maintaining the integrity of the Radiochemistry Laboratory. In this role, the Radiochemist will routinely produce 11C- and 18F-labeled tracers, package radiopharmaceuticals for transport, and participate in radiometabolite analysis. Quality control and assurance are critical components of this position, as the candidate will be responsible for the quality release of PET radiopharmaceuticals. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the preparation of research papers and abstracts for submission to peer-reviewed journals and conferences, contributing to the academic and scientific community. The Radiochemist will also play a significant role in maintaining the cGMP clean room and production facilities, managing laboratory supplies, and ensuring that inventory levels are adequate for ongoing production needs. This position is not only about technical expertise but also about collaboration and communication within a team dedicated to advancing the field of radiopharmaceuticals. The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to the policies and procedures of the Research Foundation of SUNY and contribute to a diverse and inclusive working environment.
