About The Position

The University of Arizona is seeking a part-time Radio/TV Announcer for its award-winning NPR/PBS affiliate, AZPM. The successful candidate will host news and classical music programming, ensuring high-quality broadcasts while engaging with the community. This role requires a commitment to professionalism and integrity in delivering content to Southern Arizona audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Federal Communications Commission regulations and rules governing broadcast operations of radio stations.

Responsibilities

  • Cue and start recorded materials; maintain proper volume levels and monitor off-air transmissions to ascertain quality of sound reproduction.
  • Operate broadcast control room equipment including microphones, sound mixers, audio recorders/reproducers, audio editing software, and monitors.
  • Research, develop, write, and produce content for broadcast.
  • Review program log for assigned program periods and secure appropriate recordings and written materials for public informational announcements, promotional announcements, funding acknowledgments, and other programmatic material.
  • Introduce and announce various acquired programs and provide additional comments and information to the listening audience.
  • May occasionally serve as a substitute host during another announcer's regularly scheduled air shift.
  • Record and edit content for broadcast.
  • Participate in on-air membership campaigns by requesting listeners to send contributions to support the radio station.
  • Maintain awareness of and monitor transmitter performance parameters.
  • Research and prepare interview questions, and conduct interviews.
  • Represent the station occasionally at community and public events and may serve as master of ceremonies at events.
  • Monitor EAS equipment and respond to announcements and events as prescribed in Emergency Alert System requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
