About The Position

The Radio Station Manager for KBEM is responsible for overseeing all operations of the district's FCC licensed non-commercial educational radio station. This role includes managing program design, staff development, community relationships, and ensuring compliance with MPS policies and FCC regulations. The manager will also be involved in budget management and promoting the station within the community.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Communications or related field.
  • Four years of radio/broadcast media, management, and marketing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of FCC guidelines and regulations governing telecommunications operations.
  • Understanding of current legislative, political, and economic trends in telecommunications programs.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and regional community services programs.
  • Experience in developing and producing radio marketing projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Non-commercial broadcasting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage radio station operations and evaluate operational issues, recommending and implementing solutions.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of KBEM programming, including the promotion of MPS on-air school news.
  • Enhance local, state, and national partnerships, cultivating relationships and soliciting donations from major donors.
  • Manage radio staff, developing priorities, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance.
  • Ensure compliance with MPS policies, state and federal regulations, and FCC regulations.
  • Manage annual budgets in accordance with public sector grant program procedures and monitor revenue development goals.
  • Attend events to promote the station and build relationships with community groups.
  • Assist with the design of annual strategic underwriting, sponsorship, and marketing plans.
  • Monitor and approve radio station format and broadcast programs and materials.
  • Perform administrative activities including records and budget management, staff scheduling, and payroll reporting.
