Responsible for the installation and maintenance of all electronic and specialty equipment that is installed in City vehicles, to include warning lights, sirens, GPS, computer docking stations, 2-way radio’s, mobile video systems, vehicle radars, vehicle wireless modems, back-up cameras, D/C to A/C inverters, and assisting with the annual 2-way radio preventative maintenance program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair specific electronic and specialty devices in City vehicles. Repair or resolve problems with electronic equipment resulting from diagnostic tests. Modify or fabricate metal used in the installation process. Monitor problem resolution and ensure satisfactory and timely completion following the ITIL process. Procure parts to repair electronic equipment and maintain records. Communicate with City of Garland employees, contractors, vendors, and other public safety persons to meet City-wide needs. Organize shop supplies and tools and maintain the upkeep of the shop.
