The Surveillance Manufacturing Engineering organization drives business success by providing a variety of critical engineering services across all Raytheon product lines and functions. We are a team of innovators, creators and strategists drawing inspiration from each other every day. The Material Processing Manufacturing Engineering Department centers on development and production support assembly methods, materials, and processes for current and next generation microwave and mmWave products, with a very heavy emphasis on cutting-edge automation and materials. You will work closely with product engineers, quality engineers, reliability engineers, tooling engineers, industrial engineers, and operations leaders on product manufacturing. Team responsibilities include developing and implementing materials and processes, process improvements, and production support using established statistical process control techniques, experimental designs, material analysis, mechanical design analysis, and root cause analysis. Evaluation of materials, equipment, and processes (including qualification, acceptance testing, and specification development) will be required including interfacing with key internal and external suppliers to resolve technical issues.

Requirements

  • Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience.
  • Manufacturing experience with surface mount technology (SMT) and microelectronics and automated assembly equipment.
  • Process development and qualification experience.
  • Familiarity with J-STD-001, MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, and IPC standards.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC), statistical data analysis experience, Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques.
  • Technical writing experience for operator instructions, process and/or material qualification reports, equipment vendor statement of works, etc.
  • Demonstrated problem solving with data-driven approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute impactful improvements.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of material properties or automated equipment.
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplined engineering team in resolving technical issues and investigation thereof.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).

Responsibilities

  • Support current low-volume high-mix production with on-site responsiveness to factory equipment, process, materials, and product problems.
  • Develop and implement well-controlled processes using data-driven methods such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) and writing shop process documentation.
  • Develop and execute new product builds typically with automated equipment, often requiring creative solutions for next-generation product designs.
  • Ensure processes developed and executed meet product quality requirements (J-STD-001, MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, IPC, etc.).
  • Lead process improvement projects to improve factory productivity through leveraging new technologies, investigating and qualifying new materials.
  • Conduct capital equipment down-selection and integration to meet current and future business needs.
  • Communicate technical information effectively across functions.
