About The Position

The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Radiation Therapy Technologist 2. This position involves administering doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards, as prescribed by the physician. The technologist will position patients for treatment with accuracy according to prescription, review prescriptions, diagnoses, patient charts, and identification, and maintain records, reports, and files as required. The role also includes observing the patient's clinical progress, using clinical decision-making skills to recognize and report any signs of complications, and following principles of radiation protection for patients, self, and others. The technologist will operate a variety of computerized simulation and treatment machines safely and effectively, perform and document daily machine safety checks, and construct immobilization devices and employ custom blocking techniques conducive to conformal radiation therapy. Additionally, the technologist will work closely with the Radiation Oncologist and the therapy team in preparing customized treatment plans, perform simulations according to physician's orders, and act as a resource therapist for all staff members. Adherence to University and unit-level policies and procedures is essential.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Accreditation.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
