About The Position

The Radiation Therapy Nurse at TriStar Centennial Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing direct patient care to individuals undergoing radiation treatment. This position involves evaluating patients throughout their treatment journey, educating them on potential side effects, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team. The nurse is responsible for implementing and monitoring patient care plans, ensuring a safe therapeutic environment, and participating in performance improvement activities. Requirements

• Current RN License in TN or compact state licensure.
• BLS Certification upon hire.
• ACLS Certification preferred.
• At least 1 year of RN experience, preferably in critical care.
• Experience in radiation oncology and discharge planning.
• Oncology Care plans knowledge.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or BMT Certified Nurse preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients throughout their radiation treatment journey.
• Educate patients on potential side effects and management of their care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Schedule diagnostic and/or radiation treatment planning exams.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of the multidisciplinary team to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
• Implement and document physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the multidisciplinary team.
