The Radiation Therapy Assistant (RTA) is responsible for ensuring a smooth flow of patients within the department and assists the Radiation Therapists, Registered Nurses, and physicians in scheduling, preparing for, performing, and documenting procedures, treatments, and exams. The RTA supports the assigned area through quality control standards and procedures. Assists with the delivery of Radiation Therapy patient care services under the direct supervision of a licensed Radiation Therapist Assists patient on and off treatment table and positions patient for treatment Performs limited in-room operations of Linear Accelerator couch, gantry, and on-board imaging apparatus retraction Assists licensed Radiation Therapists with simulation preparation and creation of immobilization devices Prepares treatment room for the next patient following documented setup instructions Ensures that custom blocks are ready prior to treatment Prepares, enters, and organizes documents, images, and notation in electronic chart Escorts patients between waiting room, dressing room, and exam rooms to ensure patient flow in adherence to the department daily schedule Transports ambulatory and hospital in-patients receiving infusions between Radiation Oncology and other areas of the hospital Performs routine vitals and enter values into the Electronic Health Record Maintains quality control and quality assurance for the assigned area Removes, cleans, and stores patient setup devices after each patient procedure
