The Radiation Therapist is responsible for simulating and delivering a planned course of ionizing radiation, prescribed by the radiation oncologist. This position requires population specific competencies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Exposures to hazardous risks including radiation, potential exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment and chemicals. Potential for bodily related injury due to lifting and incidents of workplace violence. Must follow universal precautions. Exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors and assorted chemicals, cerobend by products from custom blocks. Hazards can be minimal if proper safety precautions are utilized. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiation therapy
  • ARRT-T (ARRT-RADIATION THERAPY) within 12 months of hire
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association OR CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers a planned course of radiotherapy accurately and effectively following the physician prescription
  • Assists the Radiation Oncologist in localization using conventional or CT simulators
  • Assists with patient education and assessment
