The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administration of ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes in accordance with the prescription of the Radiation Oncologist and is accountable for the simulation of patients in preparation of radiation therapy, basic patient care and education. Essential Functions Interprets and implements prescription and treatment plan. Delivers and charts all simulation and treatment summaries. Performs simulation procedures, prepare immobilization devices. Obtains accurate measurements, contours, and other information as needed for dosimetry purposes. Assess treatment machines and perform daily equipment warm-up and quality assurance procedures. Assists in clinical training and evaluation of student therapists if applicable. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Responsible for basic patient care during treatment delivery, assists with patient education, observes and monitors day-to-day clinical progress of patients for signs of treatment symptoms. Provides accurate daily billing information for all treatment related procedures. Responsible for scheduling and treating patients in a timely and professional manner.
