About The Position

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering ionizing radiation therapy treatments as determined by the Radiation Oncologist. Radiation is an essential part of treatment for some people with cancer and other disorders. M Health Fairview Cancer Care offers leading-edge radiation oncology treatments and technology for patients with cancer and other conditions. With the latest equipment and technology, our expert team of radiation specialists provide innovative and compassionate care for patients across the Twin Cities metro area. Casual therapists are shared between multiple sites to cover sick time, vacation, FMLA, etc. for Radiation Therapists. Site locations include Wyoming Lakes Clinic, Maple Grove Clinic, and UMMC.

Requirements

• ARRT registration in radiation therapy or be board eligible by completing the appropriate school of radiation therapy and completing registration within three months of hire
• BLS certification
• Excellent patient relations skills
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Responsibilities

• Prepares and constructs equipment such as immobilization devices as needed or prescribed by the physician
• Prepares and educates patients and families for simulation and treatment
• Observes and reassures patients during treatment and reports unusual reactions to physician or turns equipment off if unexpected adverse reactions occur
• Operates specified equipment within the radiation therapy department
• Records and verifies computer system, IGRT, and Portal vision system
• Positions patients for treatment with accuracy according to prescription
• Reviews prescription, diagnosis, patient chart, and identification of patient
